Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday for giving ‘thanks’ for the four “F’s” – Family, friends, football and food!
One of my favorite offbeat recipes for Thanksgiving day is stuffed mushrooms. Here I will share my awesome stuffed mushroom recipe in the hope that you might decide to give it a try yourself. It’s fairly simple and always a favorite!
What You’ll Need
2 lb Fresh mushrooms – Medium or Large.
6 tb Butter or Margarine – (I prefer butter, but margarine works in a pinch.)
8 oz Philadelphia Brand Cream Cheese – Softened.
1/2 c Kraft Mozarella Cheese – Shredded.
2 tb Chopped Onions.
A pinch of Garlic Seasoning Salt.
What To Do With All Of These Ingredients
Wash Mushrooms and remove the stems. Cut off the end of the stem and finely chop the rest of the stems.
Put the chopped stems into a measuring cup and put aside.
In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, mozzarella cheese, chopped onions, chopped mushroom stems and garlic salt. Mix well.
Melt butter or margarine in a skillet and lightly saute the mushroom caps. When they are slightly softened, remove them from the skillet and place them in a baking dish – top side down. Add the cream cheese mixture in the area the stems used to be. When you have filled all mushrooms with the cream cheese mixture place the baking dish under your broiler and cook them until the top turns golden brown.
This recipe is easy to prepare and cook and can always be doubled or tripled if needed. Not only is it great for Thanksgiving, it’s a nice addition to any Italian meal or Appetizer bar for occasions like tail gate parties, birthday parties as well as Christmas and New Year’s parties.
I hope that you decide to give my recipe a try for your holiday get together – I’m sure that you’ll be happy that you did!
