Why Do I Skip Breakfast?

I have to admit – I’m pretty terrible about eating breakfast, even though I know that this is the most important meal of the day.

Coffee Isn't Considered A Meal

Coffee Isn’t Considered A Meal

I don’t really have an excuse for it, either. More than anything, it’s really just a bad habit I’ve been in for years. Funny enough though, if I happen to have leftover pizza or vegetable fried rice in the refrigerator I’ll be happy to eat that out of the box. Go figure.

So anyway, I recently made the decision to be better about eating a nutritious breakfast to start the day – and not just by having left over takeout food. I know myself well enough to know that easy breakfast ideas would be the route I would need to take. Although I enjoy cooking, weekday mornings can be pretty hectic and I don’t always have time to whip up a complicated and time consuming breakfast. Who does?

Now weekends might be a totally different story, but it’s still always nice to have a few easy and quick breakfast ideas – just in case I’m not in the mood to cook.

How about you? Do you find yourself regularly skipping breakfast because you make excuses?

Stuffed Mushrooms For Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday for giving ‘thanks’ for the four “F’s” – Family, friends, football and food!

Stuffed Mushrooms For Thanksgiving!

Stuffed Mushrooms For Thanksgiving!

One of my favorite offbeat recipes for Thanksgiving day is stuffed mushrooms. Here I will share my awesome stuffed mushroom recipe in the hope that you might decide to give it a try yourself. It’s fairly simple and always a favorite!

What You’ll Need
2 lb Fresh mushrooms – Medium or Large.
6 tb Butter or Margarine – (I prefer butter, but margarine works in a pinch.)
8 oz Philadelphia Brand Cream Cheese – Softened.
1/2 c Kraft Mozarella Cheese – Shredded.
2 tb Chopped Onions.
A pinch of Garlic Seasoning Salt.

What To Do With All Of These Ingredients

Wash Mushrooms and remove the stems. Cut off the end of the stem and finely chop the rest of the stems.

Put the chopped stems into a measuring cup and put aside.

In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, mozzarella cheese, chopped onions, chopped mushroom stems and garlic salt. Mix well.

Melt butter or margarine in a skillet and lightly saute the mushroom caps. When they are slightly softened, remove them from the skillet and place them in a baking dish –  top side down. Add the cream cheese mixture in the area the stems used to be. When you have filled all mushrooms with the cream cheese mixture place the baking dish under your broiler and cook them until the top turns golden brown.

This recipe is easy to prepare and cook and can always be doubled or tripled if needed. Not only is it great for Thanksgiving, it’s a nice addition to any Italian meal or Appetizer bar for occasions like tail gate parties, birthday parties as well as Christmas and New Year’s parties.

I hope that you decide to give my recipe a try for your holiday get together – I’m sure that you’ll be happy that you did!

Prepackaged Diet Plans For Losing Weight Quick

Prepackaged Diet Plans Jump Start A Weight Loss Program

If you want to ‘jump start’ a weight loss program, you might want to consider using prepackaged meals.

A benefit of using a prepackaged diet plan is that you learn what appropriate portion sizes look like.

Prepackaged Diet Plans

Prepackaged Diet Plans – Are They For You?

One of the drawbacks is that they can be costly.

Why Do People Opt For Prepackaged Diet Plans?

One reason is because they take the guesswork out of choosing the foods to successfully diet. It’s important to keep in mind that a prepackaged plan can help you jumpstart a weight loss program, but you have to be willing to make lifestyle changes, and learn more about meal planning, the benefits of exercise and managing stress.

Types Of Prepackaged Diet Plans

With obesity rates raising every day, there are many prepackaged diet plans to choose from. Jenny Craig, Nutrisystem, BistroMD and Weight Watchers are just a handful of prepackaged diet plans that people can sign up for.

A recent study found the long-term effects of two types of diet, “a prepackaged, nutritionally complete meal plan” and a “usual-care diet”. They compared the effects of the two diets on weight loss and cardiovascular risk factors in overweight and obese people. To perform the study they randomly selected 183 people with hypertension/dyslipidemia and 119 people with type 2 Diabetes. After one year, weight change in the hypertension/dyslipidemia group was -5.8kg with the prepared meal plan vs. -1.7kg with the usual care diet plan. Both groups improved blood pressure, total and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels and the glycosylated hemoglobin level.

The study concluded that prepackaged diet plans simultaneously provided the simplicity and nutrient composition that is necessary to maintain long-term weight management.

Obviously, the long term use of these plans can get expensive. Depending on the plan you opt to use, you can expect pay anywhere from $300 to upwards of $1,200 for higher end meal delivery services. It’s also worth keeping in mind that if you have a spouse or children, you’ll still have to grocery shop for them.

If A Prepackaged Diet Plan Doesn’t Fit Your Budget Or Lifestyle

If a prepackaged diet plan is too expensive or doesn’t make sense because you also have a family to feed, don’t overlook the benefits of jump starting a new diet  to help control your weight, improve your mood and lead to a better sense of well being.
